NWIDA Ministry Overseer's Message

February 4th 2010

“The Golden Hour is fleeing fast. It’s ready to yield. It is HARVEST TIME all around the world. The time is fleeing fast – and soon the time will past. So, go forth ye reapers and evangelize the world” [Unknown Pentecostal author]. “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest” [St. John 4:35]

Before we departed Gbartala, Bong County at the conclusion of the 2009 Convention, we voted to host our 6th General Annual Conference (GAC) in Tubmanburg, Bomi County. The common sense was that we ensure each region of the country where our churches are, feel our touch. We also set goals. Twelve months later, we are here. It has been a challenging journey. But thank God Almighty, we made it through. 2009 was APC year of connections also. The General Development Director traveled to the United States to attend a business conference on behalf of APC; the Ministry of Agriculture through Church Aid Incorporated (CAI) donated a multi-faceted rice mill; the 100-acre Gbayama rice project was harvested; the Prayer Director during her visit to the United States also followed up on several program contacts for the organization; the number of churches and preaching points increased; the number of churches under construction also increased, to include Sinje, Gardnersville, Pleebo, Jenneh and here in Tubmanburg, amongst others. Many other organizations expressed interest in fellowshipping with us for the purpose of furthering evangelism and missions in Liberia and beyond. We can’t stop thanking God!

We therefore welcome you to Conference 2010 being held with Renewed Fellowship under the theme: “Harvest Time” with Scripture text from St. John 4:35. When Jesus spoke with the Samaritan woman at the well utilizing the analogy of a flowing fountain to show that the spiritual drink was in abundance and endless, He also drew His disciples’ attention to the metaphor of the harvest to teach them that spiritual food also multiplies bountifully. So He said, normally, you have to wait for “an interval”, a time of about four months after sowing before the harvest came. From what He saw at the well, He was constrained to call on His disciples to “lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest”.

So I say to APC, from what we see, the “harvest” is ripe. With preaching points being established monthly and baptism in Jesus’ name and Holy Ghost infilling occurring all around us, the harvest is ripe. With daily calls for a church to be planted in some unreached community and with people volunteering than ever before to go or to give so the gospel will be preached, the interval between sowing and harvesting is over. It’s truly harvest time. I therefore call on each APC church and preaching point notwithstanding the size and/or location, to plant at least, one preaching point in 2010 in fulfillment of our conference theme. Attempt something. Don’t fear! If we do, I guarantee you that “he who reaps receives wages and gathers fruits for eternal life” [John 4:36]. The old pastors have preached and prayed and the ground is now “soft”, ready to yield. Let’s harvest and receive our wages. In order words, the more evangelism, the more God will bring people to our church to help us carry on His work. And the greater reward awaits us – ETERNAL LIFE!!! May God bless our gathering and mission, in Jesus name!
