Greetings in Jesus name! Pleased to share copy of interim project report of  the implementation
of the Girls Career Club and Women Skills Training program that has remained on course despite the interruption during electioneering
period - October and November 2012 which took students away from school because of violence scarce and other people away from their locale to go vote, campaign, etc. Project funded by US Embassy Public Diplomacy Section. No doubt, the beneficiaries will cherish the outcome of this project.
Happy new year again and God bless

Church Aid Liberia News

Happy New Year! And best wishes for you, family and pursuits in 2012. Please find a release on vegetable seeds shipped by air into Liberia by Church Aid for distribution to 10-20,000 farmers
across Liberia. Intent is to help sow seed to fight hunger in Liberia. Hope the media is able to help us arouse the interest of poor farmers in deprived
urban and rural communities to help bolster food security at the individual and household levels as we embark on the 2012 journey.

God bless

NWIDA IMPORTS 1 MILLION USD VEGETABLE SEEDS TO BOLSTER FOOD SECURITY

Press Statement

Big Food Security Project for Liberia – Church Aid Imports 200,000 packets of Vegetable Seeds to help “sow seed to fight hunger” in Liberia Brewerville, Montserrado – 4 January 2012:
The relief and development department of the New Water in the Desert Apostolic Pentecostal Church, CHURCH AID INCORPORATED (CAI) has shipped
into Liberia a consignment of 200,000 packets of vegetable seeds with a retail value of about One Million United States Dollars. The seeds arrived in the country on Friday, December 30, 2011 via
the Roberts International Airport.

The seeds are in 13 varieties to include okra, pepper, collard, cucumber, onion, eggplant, melon, lettuce, and mustard, amongst others.

According to Rev. Kortu K. Brown, the seeds will be distributed in two main categories: General and Special Project distributions. General project distribution will cover more than 10,000 farmers
and gardeners in the 15 counties while Special project distributions will cover schools, churches, community-based gardens, etc. About 150,000

packs of seeds will go towards general project distribution while 50,000 packs will go towards special project distribution. Beneficiaries under the project will be determined after field assessments and registration of potential applicants.

With agriculture as the base to potentially resolve unemployment in the country, Church Aid is calling on all Liberians “to sow seeds to fight hunger”. With the FAO of the United Nations predicting
shortfalls in agriculture production due to the 25%
reduction in our production capacity, it behooves
all Liberians to turn to the soil and avert a future epoch of hunger in the country. The civil war devastated the country and uprooted the farming
population.
Intermittent attempts to salvage the agriculture
sector are beginning to show some signs of improvement
but much is still desired.

Church Aid commends the President of Liberia for
granting duty-free to Church Aid to enable the
shipment of the seeds. We also commend Seeds
Program International and Church of the Brethren
for sponsoring the procurement, shipment and
distribution of the seeds; the Ministry of Finance especially the Office of Deputy Minister for Revenue for facilitating the clearance process; and the
District 17 Representative Elect and National Commission on Higher Education for helping with
transporting the seeds from the Roberts International
Airport to Church Aid warehouses in Brewerville.
